In this year of the centenary of Our Lady of Fatima, Gethsemane Ministries would like to honour our Blessed Mother by installing a Grotto with a life-size statue of our Lady of Fatima on the front lawn of the Gethsemane Centre in Wellandport.
Gethsemane Ministries is seeking your help to set up this Grotto and increase devotion to Our Blessed Mother. This will be a place of prayer and veneration of Mother Mary, seeking her intercession. We believe that this Grotto will be a step forward in the journey to God, with Mary as the model. As St. Maximilian Kolbe once said - "Prayer is powerful beyond limits when we turn to the Immaculata who is queen even of God's heart." May we always remember to turn to our Blessed Mother who is our shelter, comforter and guiding star in time of need. "In imploring Our Lady's help ... we welcome with joy and enthusiasm the joys of discipleship in the work of the New Evangelization" (The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops –CCCB, April 28, 2017). The CCCB also informed that, “The Bishops of Canada are invited to consecrate the country to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary as part of the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of Confederation”.
Most Reverend Gerard Bergie, Bishop of St. Catharines Diocese, will bless and dedicate the Grotto on Saturday July 15, 2017. The day will begin with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist to pray for the intentions of our benefactors and donors. The Diocese of St. Catharines has dedicated 2017 as the Year of the Rosary. We will pray the first Rosary at the Grotto for peace in our families and in the world.
Our mission and work at Gethsemane Ministries is made possible solely through the generosity of our donors. We know that we can count on your support to help us financially and/or to spread the word about this fundraising initiative.
